| In January-June 2009 Belarus' trade amounted to
22.0 billion U.S. dollars and compared with January-June 2008 declined
by 40.1 percent or 14.7 billion dollars.
In the total trade share of CIS countries decreased from
57,8 to 55,6 percent. The value of trade with the CIS countries
decreased by 42.4 per cent, with non-CIS countries - by 37.1 percent.
During January-June 2009 exports amounted to 9.0 billion dollars
and dropped to the same period in 2008
47.7 percent or 8.2 billion dollars.
Exports to CIS countries decreased by 47.7 per cent (3.6 billion)
and amounted to 4,0 billion dollars. In comparison with January-June
2008 the share of exports to CIS countries increased from
44,0 percent to 44,1 percent, including to Russia - from 32,3 to
32,9 percent.
Exports to countries outside the CIS fell by 47.8 per cent or
4,6 billion and amounted to 5,0 billion dollars. Proportion of countries
outside the CIS in total exports has decreased from 56,0 to 55,9
percent.
Imports of goods fell by 33.4 per cent (6.5 billion) and amounted
to 13,0 billion dollars.
In trade with the CIS countries the value of imports decreased by
39.5 percent or 5.4 billion dollars in trade with countries outside
the CIS value of purchases decreased by
19.4 percent or 1.1 billion dollars.
In total imports the share of CIS countries amounted to 63,6 percent
(January-June 2008 - 69.9 per cent), including Russia - 58.4 per
cent (in January-June 2008 - 63.8 per cent).
Negative balance of foreign trade amounted to minus 3.9 billion
dollars and has deteriorated to 1.7 billion dollars.
For the CIS countries a negative balance of minus 4.3 billion dollars
(in January-June 2008 - negative in the amount of minus 6.0 billion
dollars), including with Russia - minus 4.6 billion dollars (in
January-June 2008 - minus 6.8 billion dollars). In other CIS countries
balance surplus was $ 336.3 million (in January-June 2008 - plus
814.4 million dollars). In trade with countries outside the CIS
balance surplus was $ 319.6 million (in January-June 2008 surplus
of 3.8 billion dollars).
