Free economic zone Minsk has been established in 1998. In this zone 76 enterprises have been operating, of which 55 enterprises
with foreign investments (Great Britain, USA, Russia, Germany, The
Netherlands, Latvia, Poland, Czech, Finland, Cyprus, etc.).
The territory of FEZ (about 15 sq. km) includes several industrial
areas of Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and the service area of
the largest airport in the country – the National Minsk Airport.
The city of Minsk (1. 8 million people) is the center of agglomeration
with population of about 3 million people. Due to the development
of communications the nearby towns such as Borisov, Zaslavl, Dzerzhinsk,
Zhodino and some other localities have become its satellite towns.
Important trans-European corridors such as Madrid–Paris–Berlin–Warsaw–Brest–Minsk–Moscow
and Riga–Vilnius–Minsk–Lvov pass through Minsk.
Road, rail and air transport ensure convenient and fast connection
with CIS countries, Russia, Ukraine, and Asia.
Transport advantages of the country are most appropriately concentrated
in Minsk. In the city and nearby the giants of not only national
but international machine building are concentrated: automobile
plant, tractor plant and heavy truck plant (BelAZ).
The capital of Belarus is a large scientific and cultural center
with a plenty of higher educational and research institutions, libraries,
exhibition halls, theaters, museums, art galleries, and sports facilities.
As admitted by our visitors from abroad, Minsk is among the most
beautiful, ordered, well-groomed and comfortable cities in Europe.
This city has high scientific, technical and intellectual capabilities
both in conventional industries and in radio electronics, information,
biological and nanotechnologies.
The Minsk agglomeration has at its disposal high-skilled labor resources
for practically any sector of modern economy.
FEZ Minsk has selected the following priority lines of activity:
- Organization of high-tech export-oriented and import-substituting
productions;
- Introduction of new technologies and production of modern building
materials;
- Production of power-efficient equipment for various industries,
including machine building, medicine, processing, construction,
and other industries;
- Development of business and engineering-transport infrastructure
of FEZ;
- Domestic and industrial waste recycling and utilization;
- Expansion of export services sector;
- Implementation of large-scale projects of importance for socio-economic
development of the Minsk region.
